Our mission

Westwood College is an institution of higher learning dedicated to providing quality, career-focused undergraduate and graduate programs that prepare students with the knowledge, skills, and credentials needed to launch, enhance, or change careers. Who we are

Headquartered in Denver, Colorado, Alta College, Inc. (Alta) is the parent organization for Westwood College. Since its inception, Alta has been a leader in career-focused education, meeting workforce needs for in-demand employment fields. As occupational challenges and opportunities are recognized, Alta develops new programs in cooperation with industry leaders to meet the needs of our students and graduates and of employers, as well.

Westwood College

Westwood College is an institution of higher learning founded in Denver, Colorado in 1953. Today, Westwood has 14 campuses across California, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois and Virginia and an online campus.* Westwood offers a unique hands-on, career-focused curriculum providing three-year bachelor’s degrees in high-growth fields. We have more than 13,000 students enrolled in one of our degree programs in business, design, technology, industrial services, justice and healthcare. To date, over 24,000 Westwood graduates have transformed their lives by obtaining the skills, tools, experience and connections necessary to achieve meaningful careers.

*Westwood also operates three campuses in the state of Texas; however, we are not currently enrolling new students at those campuses.

Graphic Design: Major in Game Art

Students pursuing this bachelor's degree in the field of game art will be exposed to industry-standard software programs such as Adobe® InDesign®, Illustrator®, Dreamweaver® and Photoshop®. Faculty with industry experience can:

  • guide students in the development of an actual game or interactive software product
  • assist students in compiling a comprehensive portfolio to demonstrate skills and expertise to prospective employers
  • provide the opportunity to enter the annual Westwood College 2D Game Development Competition judged by a panel of industry professionals

Graphic Design: Major in Visual Communications- Bachelor's

Students studying for a bachelor's degree in the field of visual communications will enjoy rich course content including instruction in web and package design, page layout, print production and more. Taught by working professionals in their field, students will:

  • be prepared for entry-level positions in print and film media
  • courses that help prepare you for Adobe** certificates** such as InDesign®, Illustrator®, Dreamweaver® and Photoshop®
  • complete a comprehensive portfolio to showcase expertise to prospective employers

Information and Networking Technologies - Associate's

In this program associate degree program Westwood’s faculty of professionals will provide students with knowledge, training and insights, including:

  • how to install industry-standard operating systems
  • guidance in designing and troubleshooting computer network and peripheral problems
  • skills and concepts needed to prepare for the Cisco Certified network Associate® (CCNA) exam and additional certifications from Microsoft® and CompTIA®*

Taught by industry professionals, students earning a bachelor's degree in systems security in a Cisco Networking Academy®* environment have the opportunity to:

  • learn to protect important infrastructure, operating systems and networks develop skills in designing and evaluating secure computer networks and security strategies
  • prepare to take the qualifying exam for the coveted Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)**
  • prepare for other industry certifications, such as Microsoft® (workstation, server, active directory, infrastructure) and CompTIA A+®**

Information Technology: Major in Computer Forensics - Bachelor's

Taught by professionals in the field, students earning a bachelor's degree in computer forensics will:

  • cover topics in advanced networking, security and forensics similar to training provided to industry forensics professionals
  • prepare for industry-standard certifications* such as Microsoft® (server, active directory), CompTIA A+® and CompTIA Linux+®, and Certified Hacking Forensic Investigator (CHFI)
  • learn techniques for managing computer crime, handling and recovering evidence, digitial forensics and managing malicious software
