Certificate - Systems Administrator (SA)

The ITSA program is a 37-week, 555-hour program. Candidates are required to pass six exams. These exams provide a valid measuring tool to evaluate the student’s competencies and knowledge of installation, configuration and troubleshooting of hardware and software; as well as installation, configuration, troubleshooting, management and maintenance of Microsoft operating systems and Windows 2000 / 2003 network infrastructure. This includes security measures, web authentication and extensive TCP/IP familiarity.

In addition, students must successfully complete the requirements of a 120-hour (eight-week) externship with a sponsoring organization. The externship has important benefits for students, enabling them to:

  • Gain valuable hands-on experience in an IT environment
  • Meet and network with information technology professionals
  • Utilize learned educational skills in real-life scenarios
  • Identify aptitudes, likes and dislikes for various positions

Direct placement assistance is included with each TechSkills vocational training program. Placement services include:

  • Personally assigned placement coordinator
  • Help with résumés and interviewing skills
  • Assistance in locating applicable job opportunities
  • Personal coaching
  • 120-hour externship with a local employer, or through the student’s current employer
