Associate of Science in Information Systems

An Associate's degree in Information Systems prepares students for entry-level positions in information systems for public and private companies, city and county governments and non-profit organizations. It provides theoretical understanding and technical expertise in developing and managing an organization's technical resources.

This program provides the foundation that allows students flexibility in choosing careers in which computer technology plays an integral part. Students will gain knowledge of the logical and physical information system components and processes that provide information storage, retrieval, manipulation, transmission, communication, presentation and analysis. Students also study the computer's impact on business and industry.

Associate of Science in Network Security Management

This Associate of Science Degree in Network Security Management program at Potomac College consists of extensive courses in computer networking and Internet security. These courses address protocols used to access and transfer information over both public and private networks. Students also learn about fundamental loss prevention concepts, how to implement a total security program and the methods used to protect and assess online information resources. Modern businesses have huge investments in the virtual world of cyberspace. These investments require professionals who are well versed and experienced in a wide range of knowledge and technological security to monitor and oversee them.

Program components in computer and online forensics cover several different areas. These areas include tracking offenders, hiding data, encryption and computer investigation. Students develop a thorough understanding of running information technology systems, while simultaneously pursuing a scrupulous program in effective network security management.

Computer science degree program courses are designed to provide students with the ability to efficiently manage the diverse information resources of a business or organization. This course of study provides students with an expansive and in-depth understanding of both management principles and the basic fundamentals of information systems.
