is focused on the acquisition of theory and technical
competencies associated with the information technology
profession. The courses provide fundamental knowledge and
application in both the information systems function and in
system development.
The Bachelor of Science in Information Technology offers the
following concentrations:
Business System Analysis
The Business Systems Analysis concentration of the BSIT is
designed to provide specific theories, competencies, and skills
necessary for success as a business systems analyst. This
concentration will examine a number of methodologies and tools
important to the discipline.
This undergraduate degree program includes 45 credits in the
required course of study and 15 credits in the concentration.
Some courses have prerequisites. In addition, students must
satisfy general education and elective requirements to meet the
120-credit minimum (124 for Kansas students) including a
minimum of 48 upper division credits required for completion of
the degree. At the time of enrollment, students must choose a
concentration.
Information Systems Security
The Bachelor of Science in Information Technology/Information
System Security (BSIT/ISS) program provides the knowledge to
successfully apply information technology theory and principles
to address real world business opportunities and challenges.
Under the guidance of practitioner faculty, the student uses
innovative digital materials to develop competencies to apply:
Systems Analysis and Design, Computer Programming, Database
Development, Network Technologies, Information Systems
Security, Web Technologies and Project Planning. This program's
specialization, Information Systems Security, concentrates on
the concepts and principles of securing and protecting the
information assets of the organization. The curriculum is
designed to produce graduates ready to function in information
technology positions with the competencies, skills, and
attitudes necessary for success in the workplace. It forms the
basis for continued career growth, life-long learning as an IT
professional, or a future graduate program.
Information Technology Support
A concentration in Information Technology Support offers
coursework in the technologies and methods necessary to provide
technical support to information technology and computer system
users. The students will learn the customer support aspects of
personal computer desktop software applications, computer
hardware and software including diagnosis and solutions.

The Networking and Telecommunications concentration of the BSIT
is designed to provide specific theories, competencies, and
skills necessary for success as a network administrator. This
concentration is developed with a focus on the Networking+ body
of knowledge, including local area networks and wide are
networks.
