The Art Institute of Charleston

Welcome to The Art Institute of Charleston, one of over 40 locations within the established Art Institutes system, located in major cities throughout North America. The Art Institutes offers bachelor's and associate's degrees, diplomas and certificate programs that specialize in the creative arts. Students receive a practical, focused education that prepares them to begin their careers with on-the-job skills employers need.

Faculty

Many of our faculty are experienced professionals with impressive achievements in their fields of expertise. They continue to be involved in contemporary creative trends and techniques and share that knowledge with their students. Our faculty know first-hand what employers need and they provide practical, hands-on education that meets those needs.

Career Services

Getting an education is a major goal, but it's one which usually leads to the real goal - landing that all-important first job that launches your career. To help make that leap, our students turn to the personalized, comprehensive services offered by the school's Career Services Department.

Ideal Location

As the fastest growing city in South Carolina, Charleston offers the best of a vital economy while maintaining its historic charm. A 90-mile stretch of oceanfront boasts one of the world's most productive ports and offers sandy beaches to half a million residents. In addition to water sports, golf and fishing, cultural attractions range from antebellum architecture and museums to modern arts festivals and theatrical productions.

Digital Filmmaking & Video Production - Bachelor of Fine Arts

Emerging and evolving technologies are changing the video and film industries. Today's video producers must be able to do more than shoot and edit videotape. Knowing how to combine traditional production techniques with the appropriate digital tools is the key to success. Students learn special visual effects and video graphics using computer applications like Adobe® After Effects and develop practical skills such as crew relations. They also study project management and business marketing skills to help them enter into their chosen field.

Graduates in digital media production have the knowledge to navigate among the dynamic worlds of video production, multimedia and converging technologies. Companies today are looking for employees who can conceive, construct and deliver content for CDs, DVDs, video and broadband Internet. Graduates of the program are prepared for entry-level positions where they create dynamic content by formulating, constructing and delivering digital audio, video, broadcast graphics and animation. They are also prepared to manage content for distribution though a variety of traditional and new media, including CD, DVD, television and broadband.
