Electronics technicians are people who have a natural interest in how things work. They're good at taking things apart and putting them back together.
What's the job outlook?
Job opportunities abound in the electronics technology field, with positions available in everything from telephone systems operation to computer and office machine repair. There's a growing need for employees who specialize in home entertainment equipment and commercial and industrial electronic equipment, as well. Individuals with advanced training can go on to become specialists who work with other technicians to diagnose especially difficult problems or consult with engineering experts to design equipment and develop maintenance procedures.
What will I do with my education?
Graduates of Heald's electronics technology program pursue rewarding careers, working with equipment including televisions, radars, industrial equipment controls, computers, telephone systems and medical diagnostic equipment. You'll perform job roles ranging from electronics technician and field service technician to manufacturing technician.
In this line of work, you might work with engineering experts or other technicians to develop laboratory tests, calibrate and operate instruments, make calculations or repair equipment.
